For context: I am a former ballet dancer and circus artist, I have EDS (hypermobility), and I am an integrative medicine physician. In my early 40's my strong flexible body started to fall apart. Small strains turning into painful tears that would not heal. One of my colleagues in Seattle did PRP and it was a lifesafer. When I moved away from Seattle I quickly discovered that not all PRP (and not all practitioners that offer it) are equal. I shelled out thousands for PRP that did absolutely nothing (big name doctors in big cities). So, when I got injured, I would suffer until I could afford to go to Seattle for care.
Just before I moved to Lexington I sustained a massive injury to my hip and pelvis. There was no way to escape the pain. I could not walk, sleep, sit, lie down, dress, drive, without mind blowing pain. One of the top orthopedists said there was no way to save my hip and I needed it replaced (he said this with a single xray, no physical exam, nor taking the history). Dr. Danesh listened to my story did a thorough exam and agreed the problem wasn't just the hip joint "sudeenly" going bad. My eval with Dr. Escaloni found 10 major tears in the muscles of my hip, and damage to the hip joint capsule. All of that was why the joint itself was inflammed. It explained why any movement of my leg was so painful.
Several rounds of PRP later, plus expert PT guidance on how to gently restore my strength: I can sit, stand, walk, sleep, dress, get in/ out of the car with minimal pain. I am getting my life back, and being out of pain is such a relief.
Here's the thing, PRP only works if you prepare it correctly and if you deliver it correctly. Dr. Danesh does both. The team at Wellward are some of the highest trained, most thorough pain investigators in the country. They take the time to figure out the exact combination of things that are causing your pain, and then they TREAT THE CAUSE. PRP is prepared by hand (much, much more concentrated than machine extraction), and is delivered with precision under ultrasound guidance. That combo is the difference between PRP that works and PRP that is a total waste of time and money.
Being able to find and treat the true cause of pain means acquiring and maintaining a vast array of skills and knowledge.
Having lived and practiced all over the country, I can say with confidence that the team at Wellward is in the top 1% of doctors in the US for regenerative care. WE ARE SO LUCKY to have this level of excellence in our little city. If you are in pain, skip the assembly line of mainstream medicine that offers nothing but bandaids. Go to Wellward where they will do their best to find and treat the cause and get you actually well.
Offering root-cause care like this takes a LOT of effort, and deep compassion. THANK YOU for your care and committment.
THANK YOU for getting me back on my feet.
